Academic & Career Advising

Academic Advising

New students:

  • Try to narrow down the areas of study which interest you most.
  • Check out our Academic Maps to view potential degree paths. More being added all the time!
  • Think seriously about how many years you want to spend in college (two, four, more?).
  • Set up an appointment with your advisor. If you don't know who your advisor is or how to request an advising session, email advising@nwc.edu. We'll get you connected and can even set up a virtual appointment if needed.

Returning students

Your academic advisor helps you:
  • find the area of study that best matches your interests and academic strengths

  • choose the right degree/certificate option to transfer to another college or to go straight into a job

  • chart your college course, making sure you take all the required classes to graduate on time

  • prepare to transfer easily to another college, avoiding the need for an extra semester of classes

  • get tutoring, counseling, disability services, social and academic opportunities
