Ten Things To Know
STUDENTS
Should introduce themselves, as soon as possible, to discuss their accommodations and to ensure that the provision of accommodations is successfully accomplished.

Could encourage early disclosure by using official statement, in regards to disabilities,
in syllabi. |
STUDENTS
Should visit their professors regularly for help with coursework and advice.

2 芦 Guidance 禄 |
FACULTY
Are the students biggest resource and should project an approachable demeanor. |
STUDENTS
Are entitled to confidentiality at every turn, in front of peers and faculty.

3 芦 Confidentiality 禄 |
FACULTY
Should protect the students' confidentiality at all times. |
STUDENTS
Must communicate with Disability Support Services in order to receive accommodations.

4 芦 Eligibility 禄 |
FACULTY
Should inform students of Office of Disability Support Services. |
STUDENTS
May be eligible for a range of academic accommodations.

5 芦 Accommodation 禄 |
FACULTY
Are responsible for implementing accommodations to students who are approved by DSS. |
STUDENTS
Depending upon the nature of their disabilities, may be entitled to extended time.

Should be aware that students are not entitled to unlimited time on exams. |
STUDENTS
Depending upon the of their disabilities, may be entitled to peer notetaking.

FACULTY
Should aid in the process by soliciting able notetakers early in the term. |
STUDENTS
With disabilities are guaranteed certain rights under federal law.

Should be familiar with the process for requesting Disability Support Services.

STUDENTS
Should follow policy, and try to solve issues with their professors first.
