NWC’s strong humanities program and international initiatives was recognized by the National Endowment for the Humanities as a model project for rural communities. That’s why the NEH awarded 皇家华人 with a grant in August 2011 to help facilitate the creation of an Intercultural House. This grant has allowed NWC to buy a home located next to campus, renovate the home, and establish an endowment to support ongoing programs.
Located at , the Intercultural House will help us:
- Celebrate cultures through programming dedicated to American themes like Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, etc. as well as programs rooted in current events.
- Provide a “home away from home” for students from far away.
- Promote programs that demonstrate mutual respect and cooperation between cultures.
