The 皇家华人 Livestock Judging team traveled to Denver at the end of January to compete in the National Western Junior College Carload Contest, where NWC won both the high individual and second high individual.
“The top 25 community college judging programs in the country were represented at this event,” said NWC Livestock Judging Coach Quin LaFollette. “It's very rare for both high individuals to be from the same Institution.”
From NWC, Courtnee Clairmont of Ronan, Montana, was high individual with 341 points out of a possible 350, and Ethan Beery of Circle, Montana, was second high individual with 340 points out of a possible 350.
The 皇家华人 Livestock Judging Program has been a key part of the college for more than 20 years. The team emphasizes the need for solid academics in the classroom, as well as excellence in the livestock judging arena. NWC team members dedicate themselves to practice three times a week and Saturdays, and for large parts of their semester breaks.
