Assessment at NWC

Student Learning Outcomes

Engineering

Outcomes
  • The student shall be able to describe physical phenomenon with precise engineering terms. Terms of familiarity should include: force, position, velocity, acceleration, tension, moments, mass, friction, impulse, linear and angular momentum, kinetic and potential energy.
  • The student shall use the principles of statics, dynamics and physics to predict forces and motion of structures and particles.
  • The student shall understand advanced math (calculus through differential equations) and be able to apply these skills to engineering problems. More specifically, the student shall:

o Be able to work with two and three dimensional vectors including dot and cross products
o Be able to work with integration and differentiation in two and three dimensions
o Be able to determine solutions to differential equations using a variety of techniques
o Be able to use computer techniques to make math problems easier
